About Sicily

Sicily isn't just a part of Italy; it's a world of its own. It's a collision of cultures—Greek temples, Arab-Norman mosaics, and Spanish baroque—all set against a backdrop of citrus groves and the smoking peak of Mount Etna. It's gritty, beautiful, and unapologetically alive. You can't "do" Sicily from a top-10 list. You need someone who knows the rhythm of Palermo's markets, the cleanest water at Scopello, and the best granita spot in Taormina that isn't a tourist trap.

Best Time to Visit

May or September. The summer (July-Aug) is scorching. Spring and autumn offer glorious sunshine, warm seas, and fewer crowds at the major ruins like Agrigento.

Local Tips

  1. Palermo's "other" markets. Vucciria and Ballarò are famous. A local knows to go to Il Capo for the best street food, finding the back-alley friggitoria (fry shop) for the freshest panelle.
  2. Find the wild beaches. Instead of the crowded beaches near Cefalù, ask about the Vendicari Nature Reserve—a coastal paradise of wild beaches, pink flamingos, and Byzantine ruins.
  3. See Etna with an expert. Don't just take the cable car. A local can arrange a trip with a geologist to explore recent lava flows and visit a family-run winery on the volcanic slopes that Google will never find.

Born and raised in Rome, with family roots in Sardinia, I developed a deep appreciation for Italy’s regional diversity and cultural identity from an early age. For years, I have accompanied my guests across Italy, gaining hands-on knowledge of the country’s landscapes, traditions, and local communities. My approach is rooted in authenticity, meaningful connections, and a true understanding of how Italy works beyond the surface.

My name is Francesca, and I’m an Art Historian and photographer based in Rome, specializing in Roman archaeology, as well as Renaissance and Baroque art. With Rome as my home and main source of inspiration, I design experiences that reveal the country through its art, history, culture, and everyday life, shaping each itinerary around my clients’ interests, pace, and travel style. My approach is rooted in thoughtful exploration: I craft journeys that immerse travelers in local traditions and hidden places, connecting them with experiences shaped by the people who live there. As a passionate lover of nature-focused travel, I also curate recommendations for natural parks, secluded beaches, and immersive hiking trails, offering a deeper connection to Italy’s landscapes beyond its cities. Italy offers an extraordinary cultural and culinary heritage, and stepping off the beaten path opens the door to rare and meaningful encounters—moments untouched by mass tourism and rich in character.  I’m here to help you experience Italy in a more genuine, memorable, and personal way.
