Milan
Fashion and design capital of Italy, home to the Duomo and La Scala opera house.

About Milan
Milan is Italy's engine. It's fast, stylish, and all business... at first glance. But look past the hustle, and you'll find a city of deep artistic heritage—from the staggering Duomo to da Vinci's "The Last Supper." The real Milan reveals itself at 7 PM, when the city comes alive for aperitivo in the Navigli canals. This isn't a city that lays its charms bare. You need a local to unlock its best-kept secrets, from hidden design showrooms to the best risotto alla Milanese.
Best Time to Visit
April-May or September-October. Spring is lovely, and fashion weeks in autumn bring a palpable buzz. April also hosts Salone del Mobile, the world's largest design fair.
Local Tips
- Can't see "The Last Supper?" You need to book it months in advance. A local knows which private tour operators have reserved tickets or can suggest visiting San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore (the "Sistine Chapel of Milan") instead, which is free and just as stunning.
- Aperitivo like a local. The Navigli (canal) district is where you'll spend your evening. A local knows the best bars that offer a high-quality aperitivo buffet, not just stale chips and olives.
- Find the real fashion. The "Quadrilatero d'Oro" is for window shopping. The real style is in the Brera district. A local will point you to the independent boutiques, artisan perfumeries, and hidden courtyards.

Ciao! I’m Lucrezia, a 21-year-old working student from Northern Italy and with a big passion for travelling and discovering new cultures. While I've explored different parts of the world, my heart always brings me back to Italy - its landscape, traditions and food. I have a deep love for nature, the outdoors, and sports, but I also enjoy good food and the small pleasures of everyday life. From scenic hikes and peaceful walks, to local cafés and hidden gems, I love sharing authentic experiences that make you feel truly connected to a place. Travelling with awareness and respect for the places you visit is something I deeply value, and I’d love to be your local reference to experience Italy in that same mindful and genuine way.
