About Valerio
I’m Valerio, a licensed tourist guide based in Venice and the founder of deTourist. I was born in Italy but spent many years living and working abroad before returning to Venice to focus on cultural heritage and storytelling.
With a degree in Cultural Heritage Management from Ca’ Foscari University and several years of experience guiding international travelers, I specialize in private tours that go beyond the usual highlights. My goal is to help visitors experience Venice as a living city, not just a destination.
I design experiences that connect art, history, local life, and craftsmanship. From hidden neighborhoods and artisan workshops to the islands of the Venetian lagoon, my tours focus on authentic places and meaningful encounters with the culture of Venice.
I guide in English, German, Italian, and Spanish, and I enjoy adapting every experience to the interests of my guests—whether they are visiting Venice for the first time or returning to discover a different side of the city.
For me, guiding is not just about sharing information. It is about creating memorable moments and helping travelers see Venice through the eyes of someone who truly lives here.
What I can provide
I help travelers plan meaningful experiences in Venice and the Venetian Lagoon with practical local knowledge and insider recommendations.
As a licensed tourist guide and local resident, I can assist with itinerary planning, choosing the right neighborhoods to explore, and avoiding the most crowded routes. I offer advice on museums, historical sites, artisan workshops, and lesser-known places that many visitors miss.
I can also help organize private experiences such as guided walking tours, island visits (Murano, Burano, Torcello), food experiences with local specialties, bike tours in the lagoon, and cultural visits focused on art, architecture, or local traditions.
Travelers often ask me for recommendations about authentic restaurants, wine bars, and hidden corners of Venice that are loved by locals. I’m also happy to provide practical tips about transportation, vaporetto routes, and how to move around the city smoothly.
Whether you are visiting Venice for the first time or returning to explore it more deeply, I can help you design a personalized plan that matches your interests and makes your stay more enjoyable and stress-free. ✨
