Vicenza
Andrea Palladio's city—a UNESCO World Heritage treasury of Renaissance architecture.

About Vicenza
Vicenza is Palladio's masterpiece. The great Renaissance architect transformed this Venetian provincial city into an open-air museum of classical perfection, and his legacy earned the entire city centre UNESCO World Heritage status. The Teatro Olimpico—Europe's oldest surviving indoor theatre, with a permanent trompe-l'oeil stage set—is his crowning achievement. The Basilica Palladiana dominates the main piazza, and the surrounding streets are lined with his elegant palazzi. Just outside the city, the Villa Rotonda (probably the most influential building in Western architecture) and other Palladian villas dot the countryside. Vicenza also has its own strong culinary identity: baccalà alla vicentina (dried cod slow-cooked in milk) is practically a religion here.
Best Time to Visit
April to October. The summer concert season at the Teatro Olimpico is intimate and magical. September brings the Vicenza Jazz Festival. Spring is ideal for touring the Palladian villas in the surrounding hills.
Local Tips
- See the Teatro Olimpico.
Palladio's last masterpiece is a Renaissance theatre with a permanent stage set that creates an illusion of infinite depth. A local will explain the architectural tricks and try to get you tickets for an evening performance.
- Visit the Villa Rotonda.
This perfectly symmetrical villa influenced architecture from Monticello to the White House. A local knows the best approach for the first view, the visiting schedule (interiors are limited), and the lesser-known Villa Valmarana next door.
- Eat baccalà alla vicentina.
Dried cod slow-cooked in milk, olive oil, and onions for hours is Vicenza's iconic dish. A local knows the restaurants that prepare it properly—it takes at least 4 hours—and the solemn Confraternita del Baccalà that guards the tradition.

Ciao a tutti! Are you looking for a tailored trip experience? Let me introduce myself! I'm Lorenzo, born and raised in the heart of Veneto with a passion for my native region and for traveling. I live on the border between the provinces of Padua and Vicenza, I've studied at Ca' Foscari University and worked at the European Cultural Centre, both located in the historic town of Venice. As you may imagine I've got a lifetime experience for trips around my region: a hike in the Venetian Prealps, a Bacari Tour in Venice, sunbathing on the shore of Lake Garda, trying the local food at a festival, wandering around in the old centre of Bassano del Grappa... and more planned! I'm a traveller. Meaning that not only do I organise all my own trips but also trips with my friends, from mainstream destinations like London or Madrid to places less common among travellers like Sarajevo and Tallinn. I've also studied abroad in the Canary Islands, Tokyo and Paris. What all my trips have in common is "don't miss the famous spots, try local food, experience something new" trying to feel like an active tourist. If you need a proud local who understands travelers' needs, I'm here!

I love sharing Venice’s natural beauty, artistic and cultural heritage, centuries-old traditions, and the unique identity that makes the lagoon a place like no other. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience that allows me to offer personalized itineraries, combining great masterpieces with lesser-known gems, offering an authentic and engaging experience. I also pay great attention to food and wine, guiding guests to discover the typical flavours and culinary traditions of Venice.
