About Laura
I was born in Florence, I soon fell in love with history and I consumed a lot of historical novels, mixing curiosity for the past and a great hungering for adventures, then, as a teenager, I chose a grammar school, following my passion for the classical studies, and decided to become an archaeologist.
I chose to graduate (and take a PhD) in Medieval Archaeology beacuse I discovered the charm of the material history, the fantastic feeling of building history with my own hands, so I joined many excavations in Italy – Amiata mountain (southern Tuscany), Florentine area, the castles of the Guidi family – and in Jordan, in the crusader castle of Shawbak.
As an archaeologist, I've met people from all around the world and discovered that, another passion of mine was telling real life stories about the real people of the past. Thus I became a tour guide!
I really enjoy the contact with people, even with younger kids, and I like to involve people and families in edutainment and real experiences, well trained by years of reenactment! Recently I also attended courses to organize and implement guided tours accessible to people with visual and motor impairment.
Last, but not least, I have a great passion for photography (cameras and cellphones)
What I can provide
I can give you suggestions about museums and cultural experiences, in Florence, but also in the surroundings, expecially about the little, special ones that are not found on Instagram or other social media platforms.
I would love to help you design a real "holiday" time: Satify your curiosity, but don't force the times, so not to tire you too much and, above all, to be able to appreciate the taste and atmosphere of an Italian holiday.
I would like you to return home having understood, not just seen, Florence and Tuscany. Eating the food we eat, at our own pace, and appreciating the small rituals that are part of our daily lives, without giving up experiencing the art, history and, perhaps, even nature this city and its surroundings are so rich in.
I would like to teach you how to recognize an artisanal ice cream before even tasting it, how to have an Italian breakfast at the counter of a bar, how to ask yourself why a city has become beautiful while discovering it.
I would like to suggest that you walk around certain places at the best times to take pictures or, rather, to take a break from the tourist chaos.
I am here for you!
